Three-point shooting and defense: all five starters could hit the three, and senior forward Andrew Whitson was the best defender on the team. 6-5 senior center Kevin Springs (18.4 ppg) and Brandon Carter (12.2) led the scoring with 6-3 forward Lee Linkous (9.0), but senior guard John Sproles may have been the one the Vikings could least do without. Dale Burns, in his 19th year, was looking for depth to rest his starters. 7-4 coming in.
