Science Hill High School

Two-time defending Class AAA state champions, 37-3 the year before, the Hilltoppers came in ranked fifth in the nation under George Pitts. Virginia Tech signee Nathaniel Bailey, a quick 5-10 senior guard, averaged 23.7 points, and 6-3 senior Jovann Johnson (19.2, seven rebounds) routinely outplayed taller men in the post; both were all-staters. 6-5 junior Brad Fields added 12.0. Science Hill pressed, scored 75.2 a game and allowed 48.3, but the bench was thin until January. 10-0 coming in.
