The defending Big Nine champions were struggling for chemistry after losing several key players, especially in the backcourt, and lost senior Anthony Whiteside, one of their most effective inside players, to knee surgery. Five losses had come by two, two, one, one and six points. 6-0 junior Andrel Anderson (12.1) and 6-1 junior Robbie Pardue (12) led the scoring, with 6-1 senior Robbie Stuart (10.8). 4-6 coming in.
