Sullivan Central High School

Dickie Warren's 28th Sullivan Central team, picked sixth in the Big 8, had already outrun the forecast. Warren, master of the zone and at 870-364 the winningest boys' coach in Tennessee, had 5-10 senior Wayne Starnes (15.3 points) at the point and three forwards near double figures: 6-4 senior Steve Swift (12, seven rebounds), a 220-pound defensive end committed to the Naval Academy, 6-2 junior Scott Swift (9.5) and 6-2 senior Travis Perry (11.5). Sickness had gone through the team before Christmas. 8-3 coming in.
