Class AAA state runner-up and fifth at the Arby's the year before, Robert High's 20th Brainerd team had 6-8 C.J. Black, an all-stater signed with Tennessee (19 points, 9.1 rebounds), and 6-5 junior guard Johnny Goodman (17 points, eight rebounds), already drawing Division I attention. 6-0 senior Reggie Skipworth added 13. The Panthers were holding opponents to 46 points, though sophomore point guard Harris Walker had broken his arm three games in and was out until late January. 10-1 coming in.
