Dobyns-Bennett High School

Third in Upper East Tennessee and good enough to win the Big Nine, coached by Buck Van Huss, the winningest high school coach in the country, who did not play many people. Solid in almost every respect: 6-4 senior guard Bobby Manis, one of the area's best perimeter shooters, at 19.2, 6-0 senior floor leader Henry Stokely (11.0), 6-2 junior Mickey Seaver (10.7), and 6-7 senior David Jones and 6-2 senior Jim Stout inside. Greeneville had beaten them. 9-2 coming in.
