ABOUT THE PATRIOTS

Coach Richard Duease’s Patriots got off to its best start in school history a year ago, en route to becoming the MSAIS overall state runners-up. The Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame inductee enters the season with 1,834 wins (second in the country among active coaches) and holds the career record for wins in the state. The Patriots will be led this season by Erick Dampier, Jr., whose dad, assistant coach Erick Dampier, played in the NBA for 17 seasons. The younger Dampier, only a freshman, averaged 16 rebounds and 10.1 points an outing last year. Also expected to produce for MRA are Jas Smith (11.2 ppg) and Will Bizot (10.3 ppg).
