Dickie Warren, one of the state's winningest coaches, began the season with 766 wins, but the Cougars got off to their worst start in years after losing four starters from a sub-state team. The one returning starter, 6-foot junior guard Jared Harrison, an excellent perimeter shooter, led the Big 10 at 24.1 points. David Keefauver (6-2) scored 11.2 and 6-foot sophomore Brandon Porter 9.7, but no big man had established himself inside. 3-7 coming in.
