Dickie Warren, among the country's winningest active coaches with over 800 victories, was having a hard season: only two starters returned, and the Cougars lacked size, quickness and experience. 6-1 guard Brandon Porter, one of several good three-point shooters, led at 17.5 points and 6-3 forward Denny Maxwell added 12.0, with forward Tim Ball (6-3, 7.1), guard Bubba Ferguson (5-9, 3.8) and 6-2 center Justin Thomlinson (4.9) the other likely starters. 3-6 coming in.
