Charlie Funk's Cobras, regulars at some of the country's top tournaments, were loaded with athletes (nine of their eleven players played football) but faced colder weather and a slower tempo. 6-6 sophomore wing Charlie Miller, an honorable mention All-American, averaged 25 points; junior point guard James Colzie (5-11), also an honorable mention pick, ran the up-tempo offense at 20 points and 11 assists. Damien King (6-2, 230, sr.) added 11 points and eight rebounds, Cornelius Devine about 12, and post Tray Capers (6-6) eight rebounds. 6-1 coming in.
