One of the Arby's mainstays, Robert High's Panthers had the talent to contend for the title. Senior forward Tshombe High (6-3), the reigning Arby's slam-dunk champion, an all-tournament pick as a sophomore and a Miami signee, averaged 17.0 points; Eddie Kellum (6-3) added 16.0 and 5-8 point guard Chad Davis, a long-range shooter slowed lately by the flu, 15.0. Center Dell Daniels (6-3) and Nick Ross or Stefan Carter completed the lineup. Their only losses came at the Great Florida Shootout. 8-2 coming in.
