Mike Williams' tenth Rebels team was balanced and experienced, with no star, three returning starters and a knack for close games. Senior guard Robbie Hoover (15 points), a three-year starter, baseball standout and one of the Big 8's best 3-point shooters, led senior guard Kevin Turner (12 points, 7.5 rebounds), 6-7 junior post Jamie Roller (9.1 and 7) and 6-4 senior Doug Haile (8.0). Williams, 312-269, felt the team was not yet peaking and hated to see the Christmas break interrupt its momentum. 8-2 coming in.
