Patrick Henry High School

The defending Arby's champions lost last year's tournament MVP, 6-7 George Lynch, when he transferred to Flint Hill Academy, and with him gone Woody Deans had no starters back from the 29-1 Group AAA state champions, a team ranked among the country's top ten. The Patriots still had 6-6 senior Bernard Basham, good enough to have started for anyone in the previous year's field, with forward Scott Dawyot (6-4, sr.), center Billy Slusher (6-8, sr.) and guards Brian Combs (6-4, sr.) and Troy Johnson (5-10, soph.). 2-2 coming in.
