No seniors, and 20-point scorer Byron Gillespie gone to graduation, but the Greene Devils had nearly matched the previous season's wins already, with four starters in double figures. Braun Dabbs, a 5-3 freshman guard, scored 12 a game and made them press-proof at times; 6-3 junior guard Jonathan McHan added 10. Herb Hawkes, in his 30th year at Greeneville, had 597 wins. 3-5 coming in.
