A Class AA quarterfinalist the season before, with one returning starter: 5-8 senior guard Lester Bailey, one of the area's fastest players, who could pressure the ball with anyone. 6-2 senior Adam Turley and 6-1 sophomore Charles Peters were the others. The Cyclones had won their first two Watauga Conference games and a good one at Oak Ridge. Tony Hardin coached them.
