Picked fourth in the conference and still jelling after a long football playoff run, but with a matchup zone the equal of Tennessee High's and ten players who saw action most nights. Shawn Witten, a 6-2 senior and a two-time all-state defensive back, had moved to off guard (10 ppg), with 6-7 junior center Jason Witten (7.6) and 6-2 junior forward Chris Crawford (8.5). The Cyclones had ended Liberty's 30-game winning streak here the year before. Tony Hardin was in his fourth year. 3-6 coming in.
