Jerry Todd's Golden Eagles arrived on a seven-game winning streak after taking their own invitational the weekend before; both losses had come early, each by two points. Seven of the top ten were back from a 27-8 team, led by 6-8 senior Jeff Campbell, a first-team all-state pick signed with Brigham Young, at 19.6 points and six rebounds. Senior guard Billy Rice (6-0), the best athlete, averaged 10 points and 10 rebounds; senior guards Mark Todd and Lance Davis scored 14 each, and 6-4 senior Kelly Crask added 10 in the post. 11-2 coming in.
