A Utah state final four team the year before, headed on to the Nebraska Prep Classic afterward. No superstar, but sound, deep and all seniors but 6-7 sophomore Garn Smith: guards Shawn Norris, signed for baseball at Cal State Fullerton, and Scott Richins, an all-state soccer player, and 6-4 post Josh Talbert, each at 12 points. Ron Carling, a former coach of Australia's national team, had won more than 300 games in 23 years. 3-0 coming in.
