White Station High School

Fourth here the year before, then 31 wins and a place in the AAA state title game, lost to White County. The smallest team Terry Tippett had had, with no one over 6-3 after a knee injury cost him 6-7 Stanley Jackson for the year, so three guards and quickness: sophomore wing Earnest Shelton (16 ppg), the top rising prospect in Memphis, and senior guard Ishmael Joyce (12), both Division I prospects, with Marcus Lee (13) and junior forward Taurus Thomas (10 points, 9 rebounds). 8-2 coming in.
