A year after reaching the state final against eventual champion Irmo, Dorman was retooling. Senior point guard Shane McCravy, a four-year starter signed with the College of Charleston, led at 29 points and five assists a game, with 6-2 senior Nick Long (10) and 6-foot Derek Burnett, quarterback of a football team that reached the state title game. Mark Freeze called his Cavaliers slow, short and green; nobody was taller than 6-3, but they had athletes. 5-1 coming in.
