The Classic's first Mississippi team. Ernie Watson's Yellow Jackets had won tournaments at Wheeler and Bay Springs and finished runner-up in the CNB Times Tournament in Shreveport, and they brought a huge front line to Bristol: Early Smith at 6-7 and 235 pounds, Leroy Hollingshed at 6-8 and Eric Pegues at 6-6. Smith was being recruited by Mississippi State and Ole Miss, Hollingshed and Pegues by Alcorn State and Samford.
