Bob White's Tigers, from a school with five NBA alumni, had struggled early in the rugged North Division of the Columbus City League despite a backcourt of two Street and Smith honorable mention All-Americans: senior Jason Kent (6-4, 15.0 ppg), an all-stater last season at 25 points and 15 rebounds who chose Ohio State over Syracuse and Southern California, and junior Jermaine Henderson (6-3, 20.3), twice over 30 in a game. Tony DeBerry (6-7, 7.1), Allfie Brody (6-7) and Brian Berry (6-6) gave them size. 1-3 coming in.
